CCIW Women's Soccer Notebook (Oct. 3, 2025)

NAPERVILLE --- The CCIW women’s soccer season continues to showcase the depth and talent across its programs. Through the early weeks of play, teams have combined potent offenses with disciplined defenses, setting the stage for a competitive conference slate.
 
ROBINSON’S SCORING SURGE, ROE’S SHUTOUTS HIGHLIGHT CCIW WEEKLY AWARDS
Illinois Wesleyan’s Keira Robinson and Wheaton’s Leah Roe have been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Soccer Student-Athletes of the Week.
 
Robinson scored four goals in three games for Illinois Wesleyan this week. In the Titans 4-1 win over Knox last Wednesday, Sept. 24, Robinson scored IWU’s first two goals, both coming in the first period. On Saturday against Wisconsin-Platteville, Robinson again recorded a multi-score game after two goals in the second period. It is the first time a Titan has scored multiple goals in back-to-back games since 2022. 
 
After four scores this week, Robinson is up to five on the season, which vaults her into a tie for the second-most goals scored in the CCIW this season.
 
Roe posted a 0.00 goals-against average with a pair of shutouts last week for the Thunder.
 
She made four saves in a 0-0 draw with Wisconsin-Whitewater last Wednesday, then marshalled her back line and made multiple important catches and clearances in Saturday’s 1-0 CCIW victory over Elmhurst to help stop an attacking unit that has already scored 29 goals this year.
 
AMBERG STRIKES TWICE AS CARTHAGE WINS LEAGUE OPENER
Carthage used a three-goal outburst in the second half to claim a 4-1 win in the CCIW opener at Millikin last Saturday. The result makes the Firebirds 5-4-2 overall and 1-0-0 in the league.
 
Carthage leads the CCIW in corner kicks with 68 – an average of 6.18 per game.
 
Emma Amberg is Carthage's overall leader in points with 10 – four goals and two assists. She scored twice against Millikin … Ashley Gorder is tied for the team lead in assists with three and is second on the team in points with nine. Gorder chipped in two assists in the win at Millikin … Goalkeeper Ainsley Stallworth has recorded 49 saves across 10 appearances. Her save percentage is .817, which ranks second among eligible players in the CCIW, and her four shutouts tie her for third among league keepers.
 
The Firebirds will host their Senior Day on Saturday at 4 p.m. against Illinois Wesleyan at Art Keller Field.
 
CARDINALS PUSH PAST CARROLL IN CCIW OPENER
North Central roared into league play last Saturday with a 5-1 win over Carroll at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. The result avenged the Cardinals’ loss to Pioneers last regular season, their only league defeat in the regular season since Oct. 23, 2021. NCC is 5-5-0 overall.
 
North Central ranks third among CCIW teams in total shots with 149. The Cardinals also rank third in the conference for total corner kicks with 49.
 
Jordan Lange is tied for first in the CCIW with five assists through 10 games. She also leads the Cardinals in overall points with 11, fifth-most in the league … Lucy Burke netted two goals in North Central's 5-1 win against Carroll last Saturday. The tallies marked her second and third goals of the season … Goalkeeper Lily Mattison has appeared in 10 games this season and recorded 37 saves, fourth-most among CCIW goalkeepers. She has posted three shutouts in 2025 and maintains a .755 save percentage
 
The Cardinals will break from league play Saturday to host Trine at noon in Naperville.
 
SVENSSON STRIKES TWICE AS NORTH PARK WINS ON THE ROAD
North Park rallied to win its conference opener last Saturday, a 2-1 victory on the road at Augustana. The result makes the Vikings 4-6-0 in 2025.
 
Sofia Svensson is the team's leader in goals with four. She scored both goals in North Park's win in Rock Island, with her second goal serving as the game-winning goal in the 75th minute … Caroline Sjøstedt leads the team in total shots with 33 and in shots on goal with 17 – third-most in the CCIW in both categories. She also leads the Vikings with three assists this fall … Goalkeeper Paige MacRitchie has started all 10 games, played all 900 minutes, and has made 53 saves. Her 53 saves rank her second in the CCIW.
 
The Vikings will be on their home pitch Saturday night when Wheaton visits for a 5 p.m. kickoff at the Holmgren Athletic Complex.
 
ROE, DEFENSE LIFT THUNDER TO THIRD STRAIGHT SHUTOUT
Wheaton posted its third straight shutout last Saturday, downing Elmhurst 1-0 last Saturday at Joe Bean Stadium in the league opener. WC is one of four teams in the conference with a 1-0-0 CCIW mark.
 
Wheaton’s hallmark has been its defense, ranking second in the CCIW with six shutouts and maintaining a goals against average of 1.40 – third-best in the conference.
 
Goalkeeper Leah Roe is the league leader with six shutouts this fall. She also has 29 saves this season, which ranks sixth among eligible CCIW goalkeepers, and her save percentage is .707 … Lily Lindquist scored the game-winning goal in the 1-0 win over Elmhurst in the 54th minute, which was her team-leading third goal of the campaign. She led all players in that match with two shots on goal … Emily Setran recorded her second assist of the season on Lindquist's decisive goal against Elmhurst. She has 31 points over 63 career games.
 
The Thunder are back on the road in CCIW play Saturday night at North Park at 5 p.m.
 
NEVINS NETS NINTH AS ELMHURST SHUTS OUT CARROLL
Elmhurst is 9-2-1 overall and 1-1-0 in CCIW action. The Bluejays fell 1-0 at Wheaton last Saturday, but recovered to snag their first league win in a 2-0 shutout of Carroll on Wednesday.
 
EU leads the CCIW in both goals (31) and goals per game (2.58) and has an average scoring margin of +2.08. The Bluejays also pace the league with 254 total shots … The offensive firepower is balanced by solid defense, as Elmhurst leads the conference in goals allowed (6), goals-against average (0.50) and total shutouts (9) through 12 games.
 
Lauren Nevins is the conference leader in goals (9), points (20) and points per game (1.67) through 12 games played. She scored her ninth goal of the season in the 86th minute to seal the 2-0 victory over Carroll … Kelli Coughlin ranks second on the team and in the CCIW for goals (5) and points (14), and is tied for the team lead in assists with four … Goalkeeper Erin Fitzharris has started 11 games and leads the team in minutes played (882:58), recording 25 saves with an .806 save percentage. She leads the CCIW in goals against average (0.61) among eligible players and ranks second in the conference with five shutouts.
 
Langhorst Field is the site for EU’s next matchup when Millikin visits for a 5 p.m. matchup on Saturday.
 
IWU CLOSES NON-CONFERENCE STRONG, HEADS TO CARTHAGE
Illinois Wesleyan played to a 3-3 draw with Wisconsin-Platteville last Saturday at Neis Field in Bloomington. The match closed IWU’s non-conference portion of the schedule with a 5-4-1 record.
 
IWU ranks second in the CCIW for total goals (23), goals per game (2.30) and total shots (171) … The Titans lead the CCIW in total assists with 19.
 
Liza Wiley is the team's leader in points with 13, ranks third in the CCIW in points per game (1.30) and tied for first in total assists (5). She is also fourth in the CCIW for total shots (30) and shots per game (3.00) and has three multiple-point games this season … Keira Robinson leads Illinois Wesleyan with five goals and 11 points. She scored twice in the team's 3-3 draw against Wisconsin-Platteville … Ellen Dahlquist has tallied six points and is tied for third in the CCIW for total assists (4). She notched two assists in the 3-3 tie with Wisconsin-Platteville, setting up the goals for both Emily Kunzer and Keira Robinson
 
The CCIW opener finally arrives for the Titans on Saturday when IWU travels to Kenosha for a 4 p.m. start at Carthage.
 
VIKINGS EARN 1-1 DRAW WITH COE TO CLOSE HOMESTAND
Augustana wrapped up its three-game homestand on Wednesday with a 1-1 draw versus Coe. Augie went 1-1-1 during the stretch, which included a 2-1 CCIW loss to Augustana last Saturday. The Vikings are 3-5-2 overall.
 
Skylar Swanson leads the team in points with 11 and is tied for seventh in the CCIW with four goals … Goalkeeper Sara Schinker has started all 10 games, recording a league-high 60 saves. She also leads the CCIW in save percentage at .833 … Alyssa Mowry ranks second on the team with four points. She recorded three total shots in the 1-1 draw against Coe, two of which were shots on goal.
 
Augie visits Carroll Saturday at 1 p.m. in Waukesha.
 
BIG BLUE SET FOR ROAD TEST AT ELMHURST
Millikin will look to turn the page Saturday night when the Big Blue travel to Elmhurst for a 5 p.m. matchup. MU is 3-6-2 overall and 0-1-0 in the league.
 
MU ranks third in the CCIW for total goals (17) and goals per game (1.55) …  Millikin leads the conference in total saves with 75, averaging 6.82 saves per game.
 
Izzy Jones leads Millikin in goals with five and points with 12, ranking tied for second in the CCIW in goals and fourth in points per game (1.20) … She scored her fifth goal of the season in the 64th minute of a 4-1 loss to Carthage last Saturday … Payton Dominguez is tied for the team lead in assists with four, placing her tied for sixth overall in the CCIW. She has tallied 16 career assists in 60 games played … Goalkeeper Jessica Bearley played the full 90 minutes against Carthage in the conference opener and recorded seven saves.
 
PIONEERS AIM FOR FIRST CCIW WIN SATURDAY
Carroll’s overall record is 3-3-0 with an 0-2-0 league mark after defeats versus North Central and Elmhurst over the previous week.
 
Carmella Nowak leads the team with four goals and nine points. She is fifth in the CCIW in points per game (1.13) and tied for fourth in goals (4) … Brielle Ingalsbee is tied for the team lead in assists with three and is active career points at Carroll with 49 in 65 games. SHe assisted on Harlie Seuser's goal in the conference opener against North Central last Saturday … Freshman Harlie Seuser scored her first goal of the season against North Central. She led CU in that match with two shots, both on goal.
 
The Pioneers will have a chance to snag their first league win on Saturday afternoon when Augustana hits Schneider Stadium at 1 p.m.
