BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan earned a three-set sweep of Carthage in the 2025 CCIW Women’s Volleyball Championship match on Saturday at the Shirk Center. The Titans (26-2) secured the crown with set scores of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-18.
IWU has now won back-to-back CCIW Tournament titles and six overall since 1997. The result also marks the first time the Titans have won consecutive championships.
Illinois Wesleyan finished with a 41–31 advantage in kills and a 36–30 margin in assists on Saturday. The Titans also posted a .210 hitting percentage. Carthage led at the net with 12 total blocks, while both teams recorded 40 digs.
CCIW Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year Taylor French paced IWU with a match-high 12 kills and added a pair of service aces. Alex Bardouniotis contributed nine kills, seven digs and three assisted blocks. Sophia Feeney, the CCIW Setter of the Year, dished 19 assists, while Lauren O’Brien added 10. Kannyn Boyd equaled the match high with 10 digs.
Carthage was led by Kristina Manojlovic, who finished with 10 kills. The Firebirds received six assisted blocks each from Katie Boston and Hailey Wierzgac, with Manojlovic notched five. Setter Ava Dettwiler tallied 13 assists and eight digs. Carthage concluded its season at 21-12.
Illinois Wesleyan posted its best hitting percentage in the third set (.226) while holding Carthage to .107. After a closely contested second set, the Titans closed out the match with a 25-18 decision.
Prior to the game, Carhage's Jenna Damon, Ava McTeague and Kyla McTeague were the recipients of the CCIW Elite 26 award, presented to the student-athletes that excel academically and athletically at the conference level in each of the CCIW's 26 sponsored sports.
