ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — North Central College extended the longest title streak in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) history Saturday at Saukie Golf Course, capturing its 51st consecutive CCIW Men’s Cross Country Championship in Rock Island, Ill.
The Cardinals placed eight runners among the top 10 to finish with 20 points, ahead of Carthage (65) and Wheaton (79). Millikin placed fourth with 124 points, followed by Illinois Wesleyan (153), Elmhurst (154), Augustana (167), Carroll (212) and North Park (278).
Carthage senior Jacob Curulewski became the first non–North Central runner to win the individual title since Wheaton’s Brandon Mull in 2008, claiming the 2025 championship in 23:57.2. It was a personal best and the program’s first individual winner since Hamilton Beal won at DuPage River Park in Naperville in 2002. Curulewski’s performance led a Carthage lineup that placed two runners in the top 10.
North Central’s title was led by BJ Sorg in second place (24:01.1). Jacob Kluckhohn (3rd, 24:54.5) and Aidan Armstrong (7th, 25:14.9), along with Jack Galminas (4th, 25:00.3), Oscar Frontjes (5th, 25:01.2) and Ari Elmayan (6th, 25:13.6), all finished inside the top seven.
NCC’s Jack Galminas was tabbed CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Meet after placing fourth overall in 25:00.3, the highest finish by any freshman in the field.
Sorg was honored as the CCIW Elite 26 Award winner, presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average among All-CCIW First Team honorees.
The Cardinals’ coaching staff, led by Matt Sinnott, was voted the CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year.
