NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) placed 15 student-athletes on the 2025 United Soccer Coaches All-Region VIII Team on Tuesday. Three players secured First Team honors, including Wheaton’s Luke Vander Kolk and Jack Krahel, along with North Central’s Joseph Sargent.
Vander Kolk posted 27 points on 12 goals and three assists, while Krahel led the league with seven shutouts. Sargent, the CCIW Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year, topped the conference with 14 goals and 29 points and ranked among the top 30 nationally.
Illinois Wesleyan’s Jerry Smazil and Wheaton’s Wes Seneff represented the league on the Second Team. Smazil started 16 matches in the Titans’ midfield, and Seneff added two assists for the Thunder.
The Third Team featured Illinois Wesleyan’s Ryder Coleman and Ben Lyons, who combined for 37 points, along with North Central’s Joris Rijnja, who started 18 matches and contributed three points. Wheaton’s Craig Rusin joined them with 13 points, while North Park placed Bastian Eikeland – who scored five game-winning goals – and teammate Hugo Neborg on the list.
The Fourth Team included Illinois Wesleyan defender Kalabi Kamau and three additional all-region selections: North Central’s Aleks Duncevic (13 points, nine assists) and Griffin French (19 points), along with North Park’s Christian Vaaland.
