NAPERVILLE – After producing just the eighth 50-point game in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) men’s basketball history, Wheaton’s Soren Richardson was named the league’s Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Richardson netted 53 points last Wednesday in Wheaton’s 102-89 win at North Park – third-most points in a game by a player in Wheaton history.
It was also the fourth-most points scored in a game between two CCIW institutions and the highest point total since North Park’s Jack Ecker scored 54 against Carthage in 1995. Richardson was 18-for-23 from the field, which included a 6-for-8 showing from 3-point range. He also made 11 of 14 free-throw attempts and had four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Saturday’s 91-81 WC win versus Caroll saw another 29 points from Richardson. He gathered seven rebounds with five steals, three assists and two blocked shots.
