DECATUR, Ill. – Ten North Central men’s wrestling student-athletes secured top-three finishes, six of which won their weight classes, to drive the Cardinals to their third consecutive College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Wrestling Championship on Saturday at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Ill.
 
NCC finished the day with 169.0 points. Host Millikin was second 122.0 points, the Big Blue’s third consecutive runner-up showing. The result marked the eighth straight CCIW Championship as the first-place or second-place team. MSOE was third with 107.0 points, the Raiders’ highest team finish since joining the league as an associate member prior to the 2016-17 season.
 
A coaches’ vote selected MSOE’s Mike Schmidt and North Central’s Grant Zamin as CCIW Co-Head Coaches of the Year.
 
Millikin’s Dejon Glaster was voted CCIW Most Outstanding Student-Athlete after claiming a 19-4 technical fall in the title match of the 174-pound bracket. The result marked Glaster’s fourth consecutive individual CCIW title.
 
The CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year was Rhenzo Augusto of Elmhurst, who claimed a first-place showing in the 157-pound weight class.
 
Cameron Lee, a senior at Millikin that finished in third place at 125 pounds, earned the CCIW Elite 26 award. The honor is given to the student-athlete who excels academically and athletically at the conference level in each of the CCIW's 26 sponsored sports. 
 
Christian Guzman (125), Bradley Rosen (141), Alex Villar (165), Payton Geigner (184), Casey Aikman (197) and Robby Bates (285) were all individual winners for the Cardinals, who 11th CCIW men’s wrestling title since 1962. Saturday’s decision also marked the first time NCC has won three league titles in a row since 2008 through 2010.
 
Millikin joined as NCC as teams to have multiple individual champions. Coby Haney (133) and Chase Mirelez (149) joined Glaster atop the podium.
