CCIW Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week (Feb. 17)

NAPERVILLE – Carthage sophomore Ryan Johnson has been selected College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week for the third time this season, the league announced Monday.
 
Johnson gave the Firebirds 23.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game last week, helping Carthage keep a handle on first place in the CCIW standings and extend its win streak to four games. He was a combined 15-for-19 at the foul line in the two wins.
 
In last Wednesday’s 73-71 win at North Central, Johnson netted 22 points with nine rebounds and an assist. Three days later versus Wheaton, Johnson shot 9-for-12 from the field for 24 points and hauled down 11 boards with a steal and a blocked shot in an 89-80 victory.
