PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) saw six student-athletes place at the NCAA Division III Men’s Wrestling Championship – four of which were from league champion North Central – last Friday and Saturday in Providence, R.I.
 
The Cardinals placed sixth as a team with 60.0 points, one of five CCIW squads to score team points at the event. Millikin was 26th with 17.5 points.
 
Christian Guzman led the way for NCC, placing second in the 125-pound bracket. Guzman won four times over the weekend before falling in the championship bout and finishing his season with a 35-1 record.
 
Bradley Rosen of North Central dropped his second match of the tournament at 141 pounds, but responded with six consecutive wins in the consolation round and ultimately landed in third place with a 22-12 major decision over Ty Bisek of Concordia-Moorhead. Javen Estrada (174) and Robby Bates (285) each secured eighth-place finishes for the Cardinals.
 
Millikin’s Dejon Glaster delivered four wins over the weekend at 174 pounds to finish fourth nationally. Included in his wins were three decisions and a championship-round fall over Lycoming’s Nolen Zeigler.
 
Jackson Punzel of Wheaton placed eighth in the 197-pound bracket. He earned three straight wins in the consolation round, including a pinfall victory against Matthew Kelly of Rhode Island College. His performance gave the Thunder 7.5 points and a 44th-place finish.
