D3hoops.com Selects Carroll’s Rangel, IWU’s Huber For All-America Team

NAPERVILLE – Olivia Rangel of Carroll and Lauren Huber of Illinois Wesleyan were selected for the D3hoops.com All-America Third Team, according to a Saturday announcement.
 
A Preseason All-America Third Team selection by D3hoops, Rangel won Lori Kerans CCIW Most Outstanding Student-Athlete honors this season, while also earning a fourth consecutive First Team All-Conference selection, including her second consecutive season as a unanimous pick. She is also one of 10 finalists for the prestigious Jostens Trophy.
 
Rangel finished her senior year ranking 35th in D-III for scoring average with a conference-best 18.7 points per game. She also led the CCIW in assists per game (4.7) and Assist-to-turnover ratio (1.51), which rank 28th and 80th, respectively, in D-III. A two-time All-America selection, Rangel ranks second in the conference and 32nd in the country, in steals per game (2.96), while also ranking fourth in the league and 94th in D-III for field goal percentage (.468).
 
Earlier this season, Rangel broke Carroll's career record for both assists and steals, while also shattering the school's single season steals record. Rangel, who ends her career ranking fourth in program history for career points (1,653), was named as a Third-Team Preseason All-America selection entering this season.
 
Huber garnered Third Team All-America honors after previously being named a fifth teamer in her career. She broke the program's all-time scoring record, a mark that had stood for nearly 30 years. She finished her career with exactly 1700 points, averaging 15.0 points per game this season. Huber is tied for second all-time with 884 career rebounds, pulling in 7.8 per contest this season. 
 
Huber, who was named a WBCA All-Star earlier this week as well as a WBCA Coaches All-America selection, was twice tabbed the CCIW's Player of the Week and garnered D3hoops Team of the Week honors once. She was a D3hoops.com Preseason All-America selection and was also a Allstate NACDA Good Works Team nominee. Huber scored in double digits in 26 of IWU's 30 games, notching six 20-point efforts and six double-doubles.
