CCIW Women’s Lacrosse Student-Athletes of the Week (March 4)

NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its Women’s Lacrosse Student-Athletes of the Week for games played between Monday, Feb. 24 and Sunday, March 2.
 
Offensive: August Claridge, Carthage, Sophomore (Wheaton, Ill.)
Last season’s CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year, Claridge tallied 12 points in two Carthage victories last week.
 
Claridge scored two goals and had two assists to help the Firebirds to a 17-5 rout at Aurora last Wednesday. Three days later, she notched seven goals and an assist in Carthage’s 15-8 triumph at Wisconsin-La Crosse. The performances allowed Claridge to surpass 100 career goals and 100 career points.
 
Defensive: Mia Fiandaca, Illinois Wesleyan, Senior (St. Charles, Ill.)
Fiandaca led IWU to a perfect 3-0 win last week, including the Titans’ first shutout victory since 2019. She broke IWU’s single-game caused turnover record in consecutive games, finishing the week with 23 caused turnovers, 24 ground balls and 20 draw controls. 
 
Her 12 caused turnovers in Saturday’s 11-5 win over Edgewood were a program record. She also established an IWU record for ground balls with 10 in Wednesday’s 23-0 shutout of Illinois Tech. In addition to her defensive presence, Fiandaca scored 10 goals for the Titans during the week.
