NAPERVILLE — Elmhurst junior Eli Spence was named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year – just the third repeat winner in league history – to headline Tuesday’s All-CCIW announcement from the league office.
Tony Vazquez reeled in EU’s first CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year award, while North Central freshman Cole Westphal was the recipient of the CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year award. Illinois Wesleyan’s Zach Iannucci was voted CCIW Coach of the Year for the fourth time – most in league history.
Spence joins former Bluejay Mac Harden (2018-19) and Transylvania’s Dalton Hubbs (2022-23) as repeat winners of the Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year award. The junior from Snoqualmie, Wash. was the league’s top scorer with 22 points and 7.33 points per game. He was also first among CCIW players with 11.33 shots per contest.
Vazquez, also a junior, paced all CCIW players during the league schedule with 9.00 ground balls per game. The Cottage Grove, Minn. native also boasted a .689 faceoff percentage (62-28), best in the conference and the only CCIW player to win faceoffs better than .600 clip.
Westphal earned All-CCIW Second Team accolades as a midfielder. A freshman from Orinda, Calif., Westphal started all four league games with five goals, two assists and three caused turnovers.
Now in his 12th season, Iannucci led IWU to its seventh consecutive undefeated CCIW regular-season championship in 2025. The Titans finished the league schedule as the team leader in goals per game (17.0), assists per game (11.0) and shots per game (55.25). The IWU defense also posted a 9.26 goals-against average, second-lowest in the CCIW.
