NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its Men’s Lacrosse Student-Athletes of the Week for games played between Monday, April 21 and Sunday, April 27.
Offensive: Hunter Hernandez, Elmhurst, Sophomore (Saratoga Springs, Utah)
Hernandez gave the Bluejays nine points in their final two games of the regular season – victories on the road over Carroll and North Central.
Hernandez netted three goals on seven shots to help EU take down Carroll 16-4 last Wednesday in Waukesha. Saturday at North Central, he tacked on five goals and an assist, adding two ground balls.
Defensive: Tony Vazquez, Elmhurst, Junior (Cottage Grove, Minn.)
Vazquez – who was named CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year on Tuesday – was 13-for-13 on faceoffs and had eight ground balls to help the Bluejays in their win at Carroll last Wednesday. Saturday’s game against NCC brought eight more ground balls and a 13-6 effort on faceoffs.
