NAPERVILLE — Wheaton senior Madeline Gentry maintained her unbeaten singles record last week to secure College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week honors in women’s tennis on Wednesday morning.
Gentry, a native of Hudson, Ill., ran her 2025 singles record to 5-0 from the #1 spot in the lineup thanks to victories in the Thunder’s league duals versus Carroll last Friday and Carthage last Saturday. Gentry defeated CU’s Natasa Pupovac, 6-1, 6-0, then earned a hard-fought 7-6 (14-12), 6-3 triumph over Xingchen Liu of Carthage.
In #1 doubles play, Gentry and teammate Tatum Thurstone were a 6-0 winner over Pupovac and Katherine Trifilio of Carroll last Friday.
