CCIW Men's Golf Notebook (Sept. 25, 2025)

NAPERVILLE --- CCIW men's golf programs have delivered a highly competitive fall season marked by team victories and several new record scores across the conference. 
 
Millikin set the standard by shattering school records and establishing the top conference marks for both team single rounds (269) and two-round tournament scores (546) after winning the Highland Classic by 31 strokes. Illinois Wesleyan has also shined, claiming the top CCIW three-round tournament score (866) and securing multiple top finishes, including a team title at the Wrigglesworth Invitational and a fourth-place effort at the NCAA Division III Preview. 
 
Individually, Millikin's Trevor Biggerstaff posted the CCIW's best two-round score (135), while IWU's Pablo Castro registered the conference's best three-round total (211) and tied a program 18-hole record with a final round 64. 
 
Carroll secured a team title at the Judson Invite, while Carthage's James Trachsel and Elmhurst's Bo Smith each claimed medalist honors at their respective events, with Elmhurst also setting a new program record for the lowest 36-hole tournament score (581).
 
TITANS STACK STRONG FALL FINISHES
Illinois Wesleyan finished fourth at the Division III Preview in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla. on Sept. 21-23 with a final three-round score of 866. The effort included a comeback from 22nd place after the opening round, culminating in a 10-under par 278 final round score, the third-lowest CCIW team single round this fall … The eighth-ranked Titans claimed the team title at the Wrigglesworth Invitational in Eau Claire, Wis. on Sept. 15, securing the win by five strokes with a 36-hole total of 585 (297-288). The IWU 'A' squad and the IWU 'B' squad finished first and second, respectively, at the Eau Claire Country Club … IWU also secured a runner-up finish at the Carthage Firebird Fall Classic with a total score of 571 (286-285) on Sept. 9. It was the second-lowest CCIW team two-round tournament score this season.
 
Sophomore Pablo Castro was outstanding in the final round of eight-under par 64 at the Division III Preview, which tied the 18-hole-to-par IWU record. His overall score of 211 (77-70-64) for the three-round event is the top three-round total among all CCIW student-athletes this fall … Senior Myles Lahart secured the best finish of his career by taking second place at the Carthage Firebird Fall Classic with rounds of 68 and 71. His total score of 139 is the top listed IWU two-round score on the current CCIW leaderboard … Senior Aidan Healy finished runner-up at the Wrigglesworth Invitational, completing the tournament even par with a 36-hole score of 142. Healy earned CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week honors shortly after this strong showing and his subsequent performance at the Division III Preview.
 
BIG BLUE SHATTER RECORDS AT HIGHLAND CLASSIC
Millikin won the Highland Classic by 31 strokes on Sept. 1 in Rock Island, finishing 30-under par with a 36-hole total of 546. This score set the school record for 36 holes and ranks as the top CCIW two-round tournament score this fall … In the first round of the Highland Classic, the Big Blue shot a school record for team low round at 19-under par, totaling 269 strokes. It’s also the lowest team round in the league this season … Millikin's primary men's squad secured a seventh-place finish at the Midwest Region Classic on Sept. 19. This result came in a 45-team field after the second round of play was canceled due to weather delays.
 
Sophomore Trevor Biggerstaff won the Highland Classic, setting school, tournament and course records with a nine-under par 63 in the first round. His final 36-hole total of 135 set the school record for 36 holes and ranks as the top CCIW two-round score this fall … Senior Luke Bradley tied for second place at the Highland Classic, carding an eight-under par total of 136. His opening bogey-free round of 66 is tied for third all-time for Individual low round at MU … Senior Jack Bollinger finished tied for second alongside Bradley at the Highland Classic at 136.
 
AUGIE FINDS BRIGHT SPOTS IN BUSY FALL SLATE
Augustana secured a 12th-place finish out of 45 teams at the Midwest Region Classic … The Vikings’ 'B' team notched third place at the Highland Championship with a 578 … Augie completed the Rohrman Invitational in 10th place on Sept. 9 with a final score of 968 after playing three rounds over two days.
 
Aiden Salcedo was the top Augustana finisher at the Highland Championship, posting a final score of 139 with round scores of 69 and 70. This two-day total of 139 is the second all-time best at Augustana and ranks among the top rounds in the league this season … Patrick McGrath led the Vikings at the Midwest Region Classic by shooting one under par for a score of 71, earning him a sixth-place finish. McGrath, along with Jacob Brokaw, also posted a two-day total of 145 at the Highland Championship. … Calvin Short was Augustana's lead individual placer at the Rohrman Invitational, finishing 31st with a total of 236 over three rounds.
 
TRACHSEL, BARRY PACE CARTHAGE WITH CAREER ROUNDS
Carthage snagged a second-place finish among a strong field of 15 teams at the WLC Fall Invitational on Sept. 14. The Firebirds shot 594 (+19) over two rounds, including a strong opening team round of 287... The Firebirds hosted their competitive home tournament on Sept. 8-9, the Firebird Fall Invite, where they finished fourth. They carded rounds of 291 and 302 for a two-day score of 593 (+17), narrowly missing third place by two strokes. ... Carthage secured seventh place at the Midwest Region Classic. The result was based only on the first day's scoring (300, +12).
 
James Trachsel secured medalist honors at the WLC Fall Invitational, taking the crown out of 86 golfers. He carded rounds of 70 and 73 ... Nick Barry delivered a personal best score of 68 (four under par) during the first round of the WLC Fall Invitational, which put him in the individual lead on day one. Barry also led the Firebirds at their home event, securing seventh place individually in the 108-player field with a score of 143 (71 and 72). ... Trachsel also led the Firebirds at the Midwest Region Classic, where he earned a third-place finish. He fired a strong opening round of 70 (-2).
 
PETTERSSON, REMAHL LEAD NORTH PARK
North Park locked down a tie for third-place finish in a large 28-team field at the Judson Invite on Sept. 5, narrowly missing a score of 300 by shooting 301 … The Vikings were 11th out of 21 teams at the Highland Championship …NPU placed 27th at the Midwest Region Classic.
 
Alexander Remahl paced the Vikings at the Highland Championship, placing tied for seventh in a pool of 112 competitors. He carded a 68 on day one and finished with a two-round score of 141 … Felix Pettersson was the top player for the Vikings at two events, leading the team to their third-place showing at the Judson Invite by shooting a 73 (+2) and placing tied for seventh individually among 144 golfers. Pettersson also led North Park at the Midwest Region Classic, placing 49th … Jack Groves was the second-best finisher for North Park at the Highland Championship, landing 41st with a total of five strokes over par (+5). Groves also placed tied for 17th at the Judson Invite, shooting a 75, just two strokes behind teammate Pettersson.
 
THUNDER NARROWLY MISS JUDSON TITLE, POST TOP FINISHES
Wheaton had a runner-up finish at Judson's annual fall invitational, posting a total mark of 296, just one stroke behind the tournament winners … The Thunder's 'A' team placed third in the standings at Olivet Nazarene's Bill Johnson Memorial on Sept. 16, tallying a total event score of 929 across three rounds of play. This score was only three strokes behind the runner-up host squad … Wheaton registered a combined team total of 307 (+19) in the opening round of the Midwest Region Fall Classic, which resulted in a tie for 15th place.
 
Wyatt Brown was the top performer for the Thunder at the Bill Johnson Memorial, tying for sixth place on the 36-player leaderboard with a tournament total of 229 (+13) … Jackson Swartz tied for fourth overall at the Judson Fall Invitational, making him the joint-highest CCIW finisher on the 144-man leaderboard. He had a single-round tally of 72 (+1) at the event … Ryan Soe had the best score for Wheaton during the official count of the Midwest Region Fall Classic, carding a 73 (+1) in the opening round to tie for 27th place. He was under par through ten holes on Saturday afternoon and had climbed into a tie for ninth place before the weather cancellation came into effect.
 
BLUEJAYS DELIVER HISTORIC ROUNDS IN EARLY TOURNAMENTS
Elmhurst delivered a record-setting runner-up finish at the Delaware Country Club Shootout on Sept. 5, posting a two-round total of 581 (+21). The result set a new Elmhurst record for the lowest 36-hole tournament score and is among the top CCIW team two-round scores this fall … The Bluejays also recorded the first- and second-lowest single-round team scores in school history with rounds of 292 and 289 on Sept. 5, respectively … EU placed 10th overall at Aurora’s Double Gun on Sept. 2, carding rounds of 300 and 317 for a two-day total of 617. The Bluejays also placed 10th at the Carthage Firebirds Fall Classic.
 
Bo Smith secured medalist honors at the Delaware Country Club Shootout, logging a 36-hole score of 139 (-1) with rounds of 69 and 70. His performance set the program record for the lowest 36-hole tournament score … William Davis delivered a standout performance at Delaware Country Club, placing fourth overall with a total score of 143 (+3) with rounds of 73 and 70 … Evan Daniels impressed in the season opener at the Aurora Double Gun, tying for 38th individually, highlighted by an even-par 72 in the opening round. Daniels also led Elmhurst at the Midwest Region Classic by carding a 77, tying for 76th place in the 246-player field.
 
CARDINALS SHOW FIGHT IN EARLY FALL EVENTS
North Central finished in 12th place against a tough field at the Carthage Fall Invite. They carded a team total of 621 (+45) over the two-day event … The Cardinals began their 2025 fall season by taking 12th place at the Aurora Double Gun, competing in a 20-team field. NCC posted a team total of 637. … North Central finished in 19th place at the Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational. The Cardinals shot a team score of 628 (+60) over the two-day event.
 
Freshman Dillon Che posted the Cardinals' best individual two-day score of the fall, totaling 149 (+5) at the Carthage Fall Invite. This performance was highlighted by an even-par final round and the team's first eagle of the season on hole 14. … Junior Jake Delaney finished 19th individually at the Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational. He registered a two-day score of 150 (+8), which was the lowest score for the team at that event. … Freshman Rylan Lother also performed well at the Wrigglesworth Invitational, tying for 29th place in the individual field. Lother carded a total of 151 (+9) over the two days.
 
PIONEERS CLAIM JUDSON TITLE

Carroll produced a standout performance at the Judson Invite, claiming first place in a field of 28 programs. They shot 295 (+11), narrowly defeating Wheaton by a single stroke. … The Pioneers secured a strong sixth-place finish in the 15-team field at the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational. Carroll posted a team score of +39 across the two-day event … CU finished 10th overall at the Highland Championship, recording +22 in the opener of the 2025-26 season.
 
Carter Morrison was strong on opening weekend, finishing ninth overall with a final score of two-under par (-2) … Ben Book led Carroll at the Judson Invite, carding a 72 (+1) to tie for fourth place individually, which anchored Carroll's successful team victory at the event.
