Wheaton’s Chan Tees Up Men’s Golfer of the Week Award

Freddie Chan caught fire on the back nine of last Tuesday’s Benedictine Eagle Invite to tie for first in a 114-player field.

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Freddie Chan became the second Wheaton College men’s golfer this season to win CCIW Men’s Golf Student-Athlete of the Week honors after finishing in a tie for first place at last Tuesday’s Benedictine University Eagle Invite.

Playing the par-72 St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago, Chan and the Thunder ‘A’ team finished first with a score of 286. Chan joined teammates Wyatt Brown, Micah Chiong, and Luke Pringle with a two-under par round of 70, but Chan’s round was made more impressive by the fact that he made the turn at 3-over par. On the back nine, he had two eagles, a birdie, and played bogey-free coming home to match the other Thunder golfers for medalist honors.
