League Places Three in New AVCA Division III Men’s Volleyball Top 20

NAPERVILLE — Three College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) programs appear in the latest AVCA Division III Men’s Volleyball Top 20 Poll, as Carthage, Loras and North Central were all ranked in Tuesday’s release.
 
Springfield remains No. 1 in the poll with 26 first-place votes. Carthage holds the No. 2 position with three first-place votes. Juniata is ranked third, followed by Southern Virginia at No. 4 and Stevens at No. 5.
 
Carthage (2-0) opened the season with two straight-set victories. The Firebirds defeated Lakeland last Tuesday before sweeping Benedictine (25-18, 25-15, 25-22) on Thursday. Ryan Monahan recorded 10 kills in the home opener, while Ryan Morey totaled 28 assists. Carthage hosts MSOE on Tuesday.
 
Loras (1-0) remains ranked No. 14 following a 3-0 win over Benedictine on Saturday. CCIW Student-Athlete of the WeekRoman Rothermel posted seven blocks, Connor Jaral finished with 12 kills and Evan Dziadkowiec added 25 assists. The Duhawks travel to Edgewood on Tuesday.
 
North Central (1-0) is ranked No. 20 after opening the season with a 3-2 victory over Illinois Tech last Thursday. Elijah Landeros recorded 24 kills in his collegiate debut, while PJ Vaughan totaled 52 assists. The Cardinals begin a seven-match homestand Thursday against Concordia Chicago.
