NAPERVILLE — Performances across multiple events highlighted this week’s College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Indoor Track & Field honors, as Elmhurst’s Tiana Grady was selected Track Student-Athlete of the Week and Illinois Wesleyan’s Gwendolyn Boettinger earned Field Student-Athlete of the Week recognition following the Coach Shoe Invitational.
Track: Tiana Grady, Elmhurst
Grady turned in one of the busiest and most productive days of the meet, winning two events in a span of just minutes for the Bluejays. She opened with a victory in the 60-meter dash, recording the only sub-eight-second performance by Elmhurst at the meet with a time of 7.83 seconds. Just 10 minutes later, Grady returned to the track for the 60-meter hurdles and led an Elmhurst podium sweep, crossing first in 8.99 seconds. The race marked her fourth event of the day and capped a dominant showing in both sprinting and hurdling events.
Her times at the Coach Shoe Invitational now rank among the conference’s best, as Grady sits second in the CCIW in both the 60-meter dash and the 60-meter hurdles. The weekend builds on a strong early season for the junior, who also earned a podium finish in the 200-meter dash at the Blue Demon Holiday Invite in December.
Field: Gwendolyn Boettinger, Illinois Wesleyan
Boettinger performed well in just her second collegiate competition, delivering a first-place finish in the high jump at the Coach Shoe Invitational. The freshman cleared a personal-best 1.65 meters (5-5) to claim the event title. The mark places Boettinger atop the CCIW rankings and ties her for eighth nationally in NCAA Division III. It also moved her into third place on Illinois Wesleyan’s all-time indoor top-10 list.
Boettinger was one of 10 individual event winners for the Titans at the home meet, as Illinois Wesleyan enjoyed a productive weekend that included 44 personal-best performances across the roster.
