North Park Sweeps CCIW Women’s Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

NAPERVILLE — North Park claimed both Women’s Indoor Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Week honors from the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) following a strong showing at the Aurora Grand Prix last Saturday, as seniors Riana Hayes and Julia Klein produced conference-leading and nationally ranked performances on the track and in the field.

Track: Riana Hayes, North Park
Hayes turned in a standout sprint performance at the event last Saturday, delivering a pair of top finishes for the Vikings. She captured the 60-meter dash title in 7.73 seconds, winning the event by a tenth of a second and moving to the top of the CCIW performance list while ranking 19th in NCAA Division III.

Hayes also added a second-place showing in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.42 seconds, a mark that ranks second in the conference.

Field: Julia Klein, North Park
Klein highlighted the field events with a victory in the pole vault, clearing 3.81 meters at the Aurora Grand Prix. The clearance eclipsed her own school record of 3.67 meters, which she set the previous week, marking her second consecutive meet with a new personal and program-best performance.

Klein’s mark currently leads the CCIW and ranks ninth nationally. She secured first place in the event while maintaining her position atop the conference pole vault list.
