NCC's Reed Leads Sprints, Carthage's Rose Sweeps Throws in CCIW Weekly Indoor Honors

NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its Men’s Indoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week on Wednesday morning, recognizing North Central senior Randy Reed as the track recipient and Carthage senior Tyler Rose as the field honoree for their performances during the past weekend.

Track: Randy Reed, North Central
Reed turned in a pair of conference-leading and nationally ranked efforts while competing at the Pat Heenan Invitational. The senior sprinter posted a personal-best time of 22.00 seconds in the 200-meter dash on a flat track, currently the fastest mark in the CCIW and the sixth-best time in NCAA Division III this season. The performance also ranks third on North Central’s all-time indoor list.

The Chicago native added another standout performance in the 60-meter dash, clocking a personal-best 6.88 seconds in the finals. The mark ties for the top time in the conference, ranks 21st nationally, and stands as the second-fastest indoor time in program history. Reed’s early-season success follows a record-setting December, when he established a North Central school record in the 300-meter dash.

Field: Tyler Rose, Carthage
Rose earned Field Student-Athlete of the Week honors after sweeping the throwing events at the Firebird First Invitational, helping Carthage to its second consecutive team victory of the indoor season. The senior recorded personal-best marks of 16.37 meters in the shot put and 18.95 meters in the weight throw.

He currently leads the CCIW in both events. His weight throw mark ranks third nationally in Division III, while his shot put effort ranks 14th in the country. The 16.37-meter shot put also moved Rose into fifth place on Carthage’s all-time indoor performance list.
