NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its Men’s Indoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week on Wednesday morning, recognizing standout performances from North Central’s Randy Reed on the track and Carthage’s Tyler Rose in the field.
Both seniors earned repeat weekly honors after record-setting and nationally ranked efforts at last weekend’s Aurora Grand Prix and Ripon Red Hawk Opener, respectively.
Track: Randy Reed, North Central
Reed earned his second consecutive weekly honor from the league following a record-setting performance at the Aurora Grand Prix last Saturday.
Reed broke North Central’s indoor 200-meter dash record with a time of 21.57 seconds, surpassing a mark that had stood for more than two decades. He placed second in the event and currently ranks first in the CCIW and eighth nationally in NCAA Division III. Reed also finished third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.91 seconds.
Field: Tyler Rose, Carthage
Like Reed, Rose is the CCIW’s weekly honoree for the second straight week following his performance at the Ripon Red Hawk Opener last Friday.
Rose recorded a personal-best throw of 19.10 meters in the weight throw, finishing second in the event. The mark ranks first in the CCIW, fourth nationally in Division III and third in Carthage program history. He also placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 15.11 meters.
