NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Carthage College senior Tayt Hager and Wheaton College senior Wyatt Brown battled to a standstill at last week’s Firebird Fall Invite, with each posting a 36-hole score of 139 (-5) and tying for medalist at the event. Hager was declared the winner of the tournament by virtue of a scorecard playoff.

For Brown, the reigning CCIW Men’s Golf Student-Athlete of the Week, the tournament started with an even-par round of 72, but was followed by a round of 67 last Tuesday that featured six birdies in the opening 11 holes. Hager did the opposite of Brown, opening his tournament with a 67 that included five birdies and an eagle before finishing with a 72 on Tuesday.

Carthage and Wheaton are set to see each other again this weekend at the Midwest Region Classic, held at the Brighton Dale Links in Kansasville, Wis. on Sept. 25-26.
