KENOSHA, Wis. — Carthage will host the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Wrestling Championship on Saturday at Tarble Arena, with weigh-ins scheduled for 11 a.m. and the tournament set to begin at 1 p.m.
The championship will be streamed live on the CCIW Network. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and children ages six and older, while children five and under are free. Current students of CCIW institutions will receive free admission with a student ID. No passes will be accepted.
Three-time defending champion North Central was voted the preseason favorite in the league’s coaches’ poll released in October. The Cardinals secured the CCIW regular-season title last Thursday, Feb. 5 at Aurora and carry a 64-dual conference winning streak into Saturday’s championship.
NCC is ranked sixth in tournament rankings and 12th in dual rankings by the National Wrestling Coaches Association, while Millikin is ranked 18th nationally in the NWCA dual rankings.
Individually, eight CCIW student-athletes were ranked nationally by the NWCA last week, including three from North Central. Chip Guzman (125) and Ethan Spacht (133) both enter the weekend ranked No. 1 nationally in their respective weight classes. In addition, 34 CCIW wrestlers are currently regionally ranked.
