Ava Butt Named CCIW Women’s Bowling Student-Athlete of the Week for Third Time

NAPERVILLE — Carroll junior Ava Butt has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Bowling Student-Athlete of the Week following her performance at the Viking Classic in Bettendorf, Iowa. It is the third weekly honor this season for Butt, a native of Wautoma, Wis.

Butt earned the individual title in a field that included nationally recognized programs. She totaled 1,006 pins over a five-game traditional series for a 201.2 average, the top mark in the tournament and the only five-game average above 200. Her game scores were 192, 234, 180, 211 and 189.

In Sunday’s Baker competition, Butt struck on more than 55 percent of her shots and converted all single-pin attempts, finishing 13-for-13. She also recorded multiple 10th-frame strikes during match play, including a three-strike 10th frame in a best-of-seven match against Quincy to secure a one-pin win and give Carroll a 3-1 lead in the series.

Carroll finished fifth in the team standings with an 8,191 total pinfall and a 4-4 overall record.
