NAPERVILLE —The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released its latest NCAA Division III men’s volleyball poll on Tuesday with the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) represented by Carthage and Loras.
Carthage (8-2) held a top-five position at No. 5 with 469 points in the latest voting. The Firebirds slid two spots from No. 3 after a five-set loss to UC Santa Cruz last Friday and will open CCIW play Thursday against Illinois Wesleyan.
Loras (11-1) moved up one spot to No. 11 with 307 points following a pair of five-set wins last weekend, including victories over Aurora on Friday and Dominican. The Duhawks open their CCIW schedule at home against North Park on Saturday.
Illinois Wesleyan was also listed among teams receiving votes and totaled 14 points in the poll. The national top five included Springfield at No. 1 (29 first-place votes), Stevens at No. 2 (one first-place vote), Juniata at No. 3, Cal Lutheran at No. 4 and Carthage at No. 5.
