D3hoops.com Poll Lists Illinois Wesleyan at No. 16

NAPERVILLE — Illinois Wesleyan was ranked No. 16 in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 poll released Monday night. The Titans slipped four spots from the previous week following a 1-1 stretch but remained the only representative from the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) in the national rankings. 
 
Illinois Wesleyan holds a 16-4 overall record and received 262 points in the voting. IWU’s week included a 93-64 victory over North Central College last Saturday. Sophomore Noah Cleveland recorded 29 points and 12 rebounds in the win, marking his 13th double-double of the season. Junior Mason Funk added 16 points and nine rebounds, while Jackson Niego contributed a career-high 13 points. The Titans’ nine-game winning streak was halted earlier in the week with a loss to Carthage.
 
Carthage also received national consideration this week, earning 24 points. The Firebirds improved to 14-6 overall and 8-3 in conference play following the 80-65 win over Illinois Wesleyan and an 85-70 victory against North Park on Saturday. AJ Johnson scored a season-high 25 points against North Park, while Ryan Johnson recorded a double-double in the win over the Titans.
 
At the national level, Chicago moved into the No. 1 position with 14 first-place votes and 573 points. Mary Washington ranked second with 567 points, followed by undefeated Montclair State at No. 3. St. Thomas (Texas) and Trinity (Conn.) rounded out the top five. The D3hoops.com Top 25 is voted on weekly by a panel of coaches, athletics administrators, and media members.
