NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has announced North Central sophomore Wyatt Hunt as the Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week and sophomore Beck Hagen as the league’s Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The pair was recognized following North Central’s two-game non-conference stretch during its spring trip to Kentucky. Hunt paced the Cardinals offensively over the two contests, while Hagen turned in a strong week in goal.
 
Offensive: Wyatt Hunt, North Central
A sophomore attacker from West St. Paul, Minn., Hunt earned Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week honors after totaling six points across the two matches. He opened the week with two goals and one assist in an 11-10 loss to Penn College last Monday. Hunt scored to give North Central a 5-4 lead in the first half and later added a fourth-quarter goal as the Cardinals closed within one in the final minutes.
 
He followed with his first hat trick of the season against Centre College on Tuesday. Hunt accounted for North Central’s opening goal and added two more scores in the second half to finish with three goals on the day.
 
Defensive: Beck Hagen, North Central
Hagen, a sophomore goalkeeper from Hopkins, Minn., was selected as the Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week after totaling 20 saves during the two-game stretch. He posted 13 saves and a .542 save percentage against Penn College, including two fourth-quarter stops that helped North Central remain within striking distance during its late push.
 
In the Cardinals’ contest against Centre, Hagen recorded seven saves in nearly 24 minutes of action. His performance included an early save in the second period that helped initiate a transition sequence resulting in a North Central goal.
