NAPERVILLE — Wheaton’s spring break trip to Florida resulted in this week’s College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week honor for Tatum Thurstone.
A junior from Highlands Ranch, Colo., Thurstone helped lead the Thunder through a three-match stretch against non-conference opponents, posting an undefeated record in both singles and doubles play. Her performance came at the top of the lineup as Wheaton closed the trip with a 12-4 overall record.
Over the three matches, Thurstone went 3-0 at No. 1 doubles alongside Madeline Gentry and added three straight-set victories at No. 2 singles.
The doubles pairing of Thurstone and Gentry was especially efficient, surrendering just one game across three matches. The Thunder duo earned 6-0 victories over Minnesota Morris and St. Norbert during the trip.
In singles competition, Thurstone recorded a 6-2, 6-0 win against Minnesota Morris and followed with a 6-4, 6-4 decision in Wheaton’s match against Saint Mary’s (Ind.).
