INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Committee announced the 64-team field for the 2026 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship on Monday, with Carroll and Illinois Wesleyan both qualifying for the national tournament. Carroll has also been selected to host first- and second-round games at Van Male Fieldhouse in Waukesha on this Friday and Saturday
Carroll (22-5) entered the field as one of 21 at-large selections and will play the second game of a Friday doubleheader, tipping off at 7:45 p.m. on Friday against DePauw, the North Coast Athletic Conference champion. The Waukesha pod will open with Wisconsin-La Crosse (WIAC champion) facing LaGrange (CCS champion) at 5:15 p.m. Friday. The winners will meet Saturday at 7:45 p.m.
Illinois Wesleyan (22-5) earned its 17th NCAA Tournament appearance through an automatic qualification as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament champion. The Titans secured the league’s automatic bid with a 74-70 overtime win over Carroll in the CCIW title game last Saturday. IWU will travel to Holland, Mich. for first- and second-round play hosted by Hope and will face Washington & Jefferson on Friday at 5 p.m. CT. The winner will advance to play either No. 9 Hope or Penn State Behrend on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CT.
The 2026 championship field includes 43 automatic qualifiers and 21 at-large selections. Teams advancing from the first and second rounds will move on to sectional sites on March 13–14. The tournament concludes with the national semifinals and championship game March 19 and 21 at the Cregger Center in Salem, Va., hosted by the City of Salem and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
