Carthage, Loras Bound for NCAA Division III Men’s Volleyball Championship Play

INDIANAPOLIS — Carthage and Loras have qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division III Men’s Volleyball Championship, the NCAA announced Monday morning. Carthage will serve as the host site for the first, second and quarterfinal rounds of the tournament, with matches scheduled for April 16-18 at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis.
 
Carthage enters the NCAA Tournament with a 22-3 overall record after securing the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament title on Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Illinois Wesleyan. The appearance marks the 10th NCAA Tournament berth in program history and the fifth under head coach JW Kieckhefer. The Firebirds rank second nationally in hitting percentage (.327) and third in kills per set (13.21).
 
Loras will enter the national tournament with a 20-6 record and will travel to Kenosha for second-round competition. The Duhawks received an at-large selection to the field after advancing to the CCIW Tournament semifinals. Loras will face Southern Virginia in the second round.
 
Competition at Tarble Arena will begin Thursday with a first-round match between Dominican (Ill.) and Thiel. Second-round matches are scheduled for Friday with Carthage set to face the winner of Dominican/Thiel at 4 p.m. CT and Loras scheduled to play Southern Virginia at 6:30 p.m. CT.
 
The winners of Friday’s matches will meet in the quarterfinal round on Saturday. The winner of the Kenosha quadrant will advance to the national semifinals and championship final, scheduled for April 23 and April 25 in Springfield, Mass.
