Phaneuf, Chiavola Named CCIW Women’s Lacrosse Student-Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE — Carroll’s Elaina Phaneuf and Augustana’s Colleen Chiavola were named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Lacrosse Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday after helping their teams to league wins on Saturday.
 
Offensive: Elaina Phaneuf, Carroll
Carroll improved to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in league play with a 22-3 victory over Illinois Wesleyan, paced by Phaneuf’s offensive output. A junior midfielder from Cross Plains, Wis., she scored a game-high six goals as part of a performance that helped the Pioneers maintain control throughout the contest. Carroll held a 45-11 advantage in shots.
 
Defensive: Colleen Chiavola, Augustana
In a separate conference result, Augustana secured its first league win of the season with a 6-4 decision against Elmhurst. Chiavola, a junior from Chicago, contributed on both ends of the field, recording five caused turnovers and four ground balls to support the defensive effort. She also factored into the offense with two goals, including the opening score, and added an assist in the victory.
