NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced Tuesday that Illinois Wesleyan junior Nora Cerroni has been named the Women’s Golf Student-Athlete of the Week.
Cerroni earned the recognition after a strong performance at the WashU Spring Invite held March 29-30. In the opening round at Crown Point Golf Course, she carded a career-best three-under-par 69, becoming the fifth player in program history to record a round in the 60s. Her round included a four-under-par 32 on the back nine.
She followed with a six-over-par 78 in the final round to finish with a career-best 36-hole total of 147. Cerroni tied for second place in the 88-player field, marking the best individual finish of her collegiate career and her fourth top-five finish at IWU.
Led in part by Cerroni’s performance, the 23rd-ranked Titans placed second in the 15-team field with a two-round total of 607. Illinois Wesleyan finished ahead of No. 20 Grinnell and several other regional opponents.
