CCIW Announces Softball Major Award Winners, All-Conference Team

NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its 2026 All-Conference Softball Teams and individual award winners on Wednesday. Illinois Wesleyan, the 2026 CCIW regular-season champion, led all programs with eight selections after finishing the conference schedule with a 15-1 record.

Carthage senior outfielder Clare Rettler was named the CCIW Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year for the third consecutive year. Rettler led the conference with a .600 batting average and 30 hits during league play, while also setting a single-season CCIW record with 26 stolen bases in 16 games. She is the first player in conference history to receive a Student-Athlete of the Year award in three consecutive seasons (2024-26).

North Park senior outfielder Eden Baker was selected as the CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year. Baker was a key part of the Vikings’ outfield and finished the conference season with a .968 fielding percentage. She also contributed offensively, batting .442 with a .692 slugging percentage during the CCIW schedule.

Illinois Wesleyan senior Gianna Certa was voted the CCIW Pitcher of the Year. Certa finished conference play with a 0.71 earned-run average and a 7-0 record, striking out 53 batters in 49 innings. She completed her conference career undefeated in CCIW regular-season play over four seasons and became the sixth player in league history to earn Pitcher of the Year honors multiple times after previously earning the award in 2024.

North Park freshman Miabella Collazo was named the CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year. Collazo also received All-CCIW First Team honors at second base after batting .412 in her first conference season. She finished CCIW play with 21 hits and six doubles.

The Illinois Wesleyan Coaching Staff, led by head coach Tiffany Prager, was named the CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year. The Titans won their third outright regular-season championship in the last four seasons and their 12th conference title since 2000. Illinois Wesleyan is the first program in CCIW history to receive Coaching Staff of the Year honors in four consecutive seasons, earning the award each year from 2023 through 2026.

The 2026 All-CCIW teams included several repeat honorees. Rettler and Illinois Wesleyan’s Casey Wissmiller each earned All-Conference recognition for the third time, while Wissmiller received First Team honors for the second consecutive season. North Park’s Kayla Lorenz and Baker also became three-time All-CCIW selections.

Additional repeat selections included Certa, a two-time First Team honoree and two-time Pitcher of the Year; Illinois Wesleyan catcher Claire Post, a two-time First Team selection in 2023 and 2026; North Central pitcher Juliana Maude, a two-time First Team selection in 2024 and 2026; Illinois Wesleyan’s Anna Beckman, who earned her second career All-CCIW honor after receiving First Team recognition in 2024; Carthage outfielder Gwen Hendrick, a two-time First Team selection in 2023 and 2026; and North Central pitcher Sam Schilf, a two-time Second Team selection in 2024 and 2026.
