NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Wheaton College’s Mark Forcucci, Illinois Wesleyan University’s Lucas Lappin and Augustana College’s Tyreke Fortney claimed the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin’s Football Student-Athlete of the Week honors, announced Monday.
Forcucci threw for 250 yards and five touchdowns in Wheaton’s 82-10 win over Millikin University while becoming the program’s career leader in touchdown passes. Lappin led the Illinois Wesleyan defense with 10 tackles and returned an interception 30 yards for the decisive touchdown in a 17-10 road win over Augustana. Fortney totaled 102 yards on four kickoff returns for the Vikings, averaging 25.5 yards per return with a long of 31 yards.

Offensive
Mark Forcucci, Wheaton (Quarterback, Senior, Winfield, IL)
Forcucci led the Wheaton offense in an 82-10 win over Millikin University, completing 23 of 32 passes for 250 yards and five touchdowns. The senior quarterback connected three times with Seth Kortenhoeven for scores of 14, 16 and 28 yards and added an 18-yard touchdown pass to Max Loomis. Forcucci became Wheaton’s career leader in touchdown passes, surpassing the previous record of 70 that had stood since 1985 with a current total of 74.
Defensive
Lucas Lappin, Illinois Wesleyan (Defensive Back, Junior, Lake Zurich, IL)
Lappin led the Illinois Wesleyan defense in a 17-10 road win over Augustana College, finishing with a team-high 11 tackles, including eight solo stops, and his third interception of the season. The junior returned the interception 30 yards for a touchdown, which proved to be the decisive score in the Titans’ narrow victory. Lappin’s three interceptions rank seventh nationally.
Special Teams
Tyreke Fortney, Augustana (Wide Receiver/Returner, Junior, Peru, IL)
Fortney provided a spark in the return game for Augustana against Illinois Wesleyan, returning four kickoffs for 102 yards. He averaged 25.5 yards per return and recorded a long of 31 yards on the afternoon.
Honorable Mentions:
Marcus Johnson, Carroll: Rushed for 241 yards and two touchdowns in Carroll’s shutout win over Elmhurst.
Garret Wilson, North Central: Threw for a career-high 354 yards and three touchdowns in a 45-10 win over North Park.
