NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Augustana College’s Ben Ludlum, Carroll University’s August Johansen and Wheaton College’s Seth Kortenhoeven claimed College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Football Student-Athlete of the Week honors, announced Monday.
Ludlum rushed for 231 yards and four touchdowns on 22 carries in Augustana’s win over Elmhurst University. Johansen led the Carroll defense with four tackles for loss, three sacks and four quarterback hurries as the Pioneers shut out Carthage College, 20-0. Kortenhoeven returned a punt 56 yards for the opening touchdown in Wheaton’s 28-7 win over Illinois Wesleyan and now leads Division III with 233 punt return yards.

Offensive
Ben Ludlum, Augustana (Running Back, Senior, Algonquin, IL)
Ludlum powered the Augustana offense in its win over Elmhurst University, rushing for 231 yards and four touchdowns on 22 carries. The senior averaged 10.5 yards per attempt and found the end zone on runs of 4, 20, 1 and 55 yards. His 55-yard touchdown marked the longest run of the game and highlighted a performance in which he accounted for all four of Augustana’s rushing touchdowns.
Defensive
August Johansen, Carroll (Defensive Lineman, Sophomore, Manchester, MO)
Johansen anchored Carroll's defensive effort in the Pioneers’ 20-0 win over Carthage College in the 49th Battle for the Old Musket. He totaled six tackles, including four tackles for loss for 21 yards, and recorded three sacks for a loss of 19 yards. Johansen also added four quarterback hurries, while leading all players in tackles for loss and sacks as Carroll held Carthage to 145 total yards of offense, including just 83 through the air.

Seth Kortenhoeven, Wheaton (Wide Receiver/Returner, Sophomore, Wheaton, IL) - Second Weeky Honor
Kortenhoeven made an immediate impact in Wheaton’s 28-7 win over Illinois Wesleyan, returning a punt 56 yards for the opening touchdown of the game. The senior finished with two punt returns for 59 yards, averaging 29.5 yards per return. The touchdown marked his second punt return score of the season, tying him for the national lead. Kortenhoeven also ranks third nationally with 25.9 yards per punt return, while his Division III-leading 233 punt return yards are nearly 46 more than the next closest returner.
