Wheaton's Karsten wins second player of the week honor

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Wheaton’s Laura Karsten was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday.

Karsten, a sophomore guard from Grand Haven, Mich., and Western Michigan Christian, led Wheaton to two conference victories on the road last week as she averaged 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, with a 55 percent (11-of-20) field goal percentage and a 50 percent (6-of-12) three-point field goal percentage. Karsten scored 17 points, with nine rebounds and six assists, on Thursday in a 68-50 victory at Carthage. On Saturday, she finished with 14 points, six rebounds and five assists in a 72-62 win at North Park. Karsten is an Applied Health Science major.
