Wizner’s Scoring Surge For Carroll Earns CCIW Weekly Honor

NAPERVILLE — Carroll senior Emilie Wizner was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday following a pair of conference wins for the 20th-ranked Pioneers.
 
The Germantown, Wis. native averaged 22 points per game across the two victories, helping Carroll move into a tie for first place in the CCIW standings. She also contributed 3.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds per contest.
 
Carroll opened the week with a 79-63 home win over North Park last Wednesday, as Wizner scored 19 points and dished out five assists. She followed with her strongest outing of the week on Saturday, pouring in a game-high 25 points against No. 13 Illinois Wesleyan in a 68-48 victory. Nineteen of those points came in the second half.
 
In the win over the Titans, Wizner shot 10-of-19 from the floor and 5-of-9 from 3-point range, while adding three rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and a steal.
 
With the two victories, the Pioneers improved to 14-4 overall and 8-1 in CCIW play.
