2015 CCIW Cross Country Championships - October 31

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The 2015 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championships will take place this Saturday at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
 
The women’s 6K championship race will begin the day’s events at Noon, followed by the men’s 8K championship race at 12:45 p.m. The women’s 6K open race and the men’s 8K open race will follow at 1:30 and 2:15 respectively, followed by an award ceremony at the finish line at the conclusion of the men’s open race.
 
The top 20 finishers will earn “all-conference” distinction with the top 10 being designated as “first team” and the 11-20 runners being named “second team” recipients. The winners of the 6K and 8K championship races will be named “Athlete of the Year” and the top finishing freshmen in both races will earn “Freshman of the Year” honors.
 
On the men’s side, North Central, the defending national champion, will go for its 42nd-straight conference title, which is the longest streak in CCIW history in any sport. The Cardinals have won every title since 1974 under the direction of coach Al Carius. North Central has won the men’s cross country title 48 times in school history dating back to the first in 1962.
 
On the women’s side, North Central comes into Saturday’s event as the defending champion as the Cardinals have won this event eight times in school history. Wheaton holds the record for most women’s cross country titles with 10.
