North Central's Patel wins third USTFCCCA honor and fourth CCIW Athlete of the Week award

USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week Release

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central senior Dhruvil Patel added two more honors following his first place performance at the UW-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invitational on Saturday.

A native of Skokie, Illinois and Niles North High School (Accounting major), Patel won his third United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III National Athlete of the Week award and fourth College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Athlete of the Week on Tuesday. He took first at UW-Oshkosh out of a field of 344 runners, winning the 8K with a time of 25:03.5 as the Cardinals won the 50-team pre-national race with 41 points. This was the same course that will host the 2018 NCAA Division III Championship on November 17.

Patel placed third at last year's national meet (24:14.15) while helping lead the Cardinals to a second-straight NCAA title and 18th overall.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2017-18 academic year, the CCIW honored over 2,100 academic all-conference recipients, 15 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 28 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, and over 100 all-Americans.
