North Central's Harris named CCIW Wrestler of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central's Danny Harris was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday. 

Harris, a senior from New Lennox, Illinois and Lincoln-Way Central High School (Finance major), went 5-0 with four bonus point victories and a win over a 2018 NCAA qualifier last week. On Saturday, he went 4-0 at 165 pounds during the Trine Invitational. He opened with a 17-0 technical fall against Muskegon's Blake Ross, followed by a pin at 4:09 over Manchester's Wilson Lopshire. Harris earned a 3-2 win over 2018 NCAA qualifier Tyler Grimsley of Olivet in the semifinals, and won the title with a pin at 1:56 over Manchester's Stephen Kitko. North Central took first at the 14-team invitational, totaling 149.5 points. On Tuesday, Harris defeated Hannibal-LaGrange's Joey Carter-Nowicki by a 13-3 major decision at 165 pounds, helping lead the Cardinals to a 36-10 win over the Trojans.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2017-18 academic year, the CCIW honored over 2,100 academic all-conference recipients, 15 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 28 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, and over 100 all-Americans.
