North Central's Fleenor named CCIW Wrestler of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central senior Marc Fleenor was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday.

A native of Plainfield, Illinois and Plainfield South High School, Fleenor went 6-0 at 141 pounds for the Cardinals last week. The team finished 4-2 including a 3-2 record at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals in Louisville, Kentucky. He helped lead North Central to a 46-0 shutout of Elmhurst on January 7 with a Fall against Josh Lawson (2:22), a 2018 NCAA qualifier and regional champion. Fleenor then won all five of his matches at the NWCA National Duals, beginning with a 12-2 Major Decision over Luther's Marcus Mandler, followed by a 10-3 Decision over Baldwin Wallace's Tanner McHugh. After a Forfeit win over Westminster (Mo.), Fleenor defeated Millikin's Sean McKenna (Fall 1:32) and then finished the weekend with a 7-2 Decision over New York University's Jason Geyer.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2018-19 academic year, the CCIW honored over 2,200 academic all-conference recipients, 18 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 43 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, and over 100 all-Americans.
