NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Twenty-three women’s volleyball student-athletes have earned postseason recognition from the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW), according to an announcement from the league office on Tuesday morning. Six institutions placed multiple student-athletes on the All-CCIW Teams, including four apiece from league runners up Millikin and North Park, and three from CCIW champion Carthage.

In a coaches' vote after the CCIW Tournament, North Park's Adriana Rodriguez was voted CCIW Offensive Player of the Year. Christina Gatta of NPU was named CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year, Illinois Wesleyan's Taylor French the CCIW Newcomer of the Year, and NPU's Michael Sopocy CCIW Coach of the Year.

Three honorees – Carthage’s Molly Skoda, Millikin’s Tori Stuart and North Park’s Rodriguez – are on the First Team for the second consecutive year. Millikin’s Jessi Kreder is the only three-time selection, earning Second Team recognition in 2019 and 2021 before being voted to the First Team on Tuesday.

Three student-athletes moved up from last season – Illinois Wesleyan’s Faith Washko and North Park’s Gatta joined Kreder as Second Team selections from 2021 that are 2022 First Team honorees.

The Carthage duo of outside hitters Liv Carel and Skoda were chosen for the First Team after leading the Firebirds to CCIW wins in five of their last six outings and their first regular-season conference championship since 2019. CC’s Tatum Kebsiek, a freshman setter, also received All-CCIW accolades on the Second Team.

Millikin, which finished tied for second in the final CCIW regular-season standings, placed three starters on the first team. Kailee Itzenhuiser, Kreder and Stuart were voted to the First Team, while teammate Sophia Howell was a Second Team choice.

Two student-athletes from North Park, North Central and Illinois Wesleyan were also named to the First Team. The Vikings’ dynamic setter-hitter pairing of Gatta and Rodriguez were honored, as well as IWU’s Taylor French and Washko and North Central’s Maddi Barickman and Aidan Brown.

French was the lone freshman on the All-CCIW First Team, while Elmhurst’s Keely Larson and North Park’s Carolina Aviles were freshmen on the Second Team.

The six-team CCIW Tournament begins Tuesday with two quarterfinal matches. Sixth-seeded Illinois Wesleyan visits Millikin at 7 p.m. and #4 North Central welcomes #5 Augustana at 7 p.m. Regular-season champion Carthage awaits the North Central-Augustana winner on Thursday in Naperville and second-seeded North Park will host the Illinois Wesleyan-Millikin winner in Chicago on Thursday.
