NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Carthage's
George Burchfield and Elmhurst's
Noah Mickelson were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Lacrosse Student-Athletes of the Week on Monday.
Burchfield, a sophomore attacker from Mokena, Illinois and Lincoln-Way Central High School, won his second CCIW Offensive Athlete of the Week honor following his performance for the Firebirds last week. He scored six goals in a 15-14 overtime win against North Central on Saturday, which tied his season high. Burchfield currently leads the CCIW in goals per game (3.75) and tied for second in points per game (5).
Mickelson, a sophomore goalie from Mattawan, Michigan and Mattawan High School, won his second CCIW Defensive Athlete of the Week honor while in goal for the Bluejays' lone game last week. He was in goal for all 60 minutes of a 12-7 win at Augustana on Saturday as he made 15 saves and finished with a .682 save percentage. Mickelson is currently fifth in NCAA Division III in overall save percentage (65 percent).
