NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its Men’s Lacrosse Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday following weekend performances. Illinois Wesleyan’s Nate Pound and Elmhurst’s Tony Vazquez were recognized after contributing to conference victories.
 
Offensive; Nate Pound, Illinois Wesleyan
A 25-5 victory over Carroll was led by Illinois Wesleyan’s offensive production, with Pound playing a central role in the outcome. The junior from Theinsville, Wis. finished with a team-high eight points, totaling four goals and four assists to establish new career highs in both categories. He also recorded one ground ball and one caused turnover as the Titans extended their winning streak to four games and improved to 2-0 in conference play.
 
Defensive: Tony Vazquez, Elmhurst
At the faceoff position, Vazquez provided consistent possession advantages in Elmhurst’s 27-0 win against Augustana. The Cottage Grove, Minn. native is a repeat CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week after winning all 14 of his attempts at the “X” while adding nine ground balls and two assists. His efforts contributed to Elmhurst matching its program record for goals in a single game, outshooting its opponent 55-11, and improving to 2-0 in league play.
