CCIW Adds Aurora as Associate Member in Men’s Wrestling

| By: Bryan Moore, Associate Executive Director
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) will add Aurora University as an associate member in the sport of men’s wrestling starting with the 2022-23 academic year.

The Spartans, who already compete as an associate member of the CCIW in women’s bowling, will be the 10th CCIW men’s wrestling member. Core members Augustana, Carthage, Elmhurst, Millikin, North Central and Wheaton participate in CCIW men’s wrestling alongside associate members Concordia Wisconsin, Lakeland and Milwaukee School of Engineering.

The CCIW has sponsored men’s wrestling since 1957.

“We are excited to expand Aurora’s affiliation with the CCIW,” CCIW Executive Director Maureen Harty said. “Adding the Spartans adds depth to what is one of the most competitive DIII wrestling conferences in the nation."

Aurora launched its varsity men’s wrestling program in March 2020, appointed Justin Pearch as head coach in June 2020 and officially began intercollegiate competition during the 2021-22 season. Last winter, the Spartans competed in five dual matches – all against CCIW opponents – and six tournaments.
