CCIW Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week (Nov. 18)

NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced Carthage’s AJ Johnson as Student-Athlete of the Week in men’s basketball on Monday for games played between Monday, Nov. 11 and Sunday, Nov. 17.
 
Johnson poured in 32 points and added eight rebounds, two assists and a steal in helping the Firebirds take down Illinois Tech on the road last Tuesday, 82-56. Johnson, a junior from Oswego, Ill., went 6-for-6 from 3-point range in the victory. He also scored 13 points and distributed four assists in Carthage’s 89-56 drubbing of Alma on Saturday.
 
He finished the week shooting 63 percent from the field, 88 percent from 3-point range and was 14-for-15 at the foul line. Johnson did not commit a turnover in 60 minutes of action between the two wins.
