NCC's Robison Claims CCIW Weekly Award After 5–0 Championship Performance

NAPERVILLE — North Central junior Joshua Robison was voted College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week on Tuesday. The Albuquerque, N.M. native won the 31st Annual Concordia University Wisconsin Open last Saturday, rolling through the 141-pound bracket to claim one of the day’s individual titles for the No. 8-ranked Cardinals.

Ranked seventh nationally and seeded fourth in the field, Robison put together a flawless 5-0 run that included two technical falls to open the day, a steady 8-1 decision over Wartburg’s Patrick Mullen in the quarterfinals, and a semifinal victory over second-ranked Sean Conway of Chicago. In that matchup, Robison trailed 5-4 in the closing seconds before securing a decisive takedown to stun the returning national finalist and advance to the final. He went on to secure the championship by medical forfeit against TCNJ’s Vincent Santaniello.

Robison’s title was one of eight top-six finishes for North Central, with top-ranked 125-pounder Chip Guzman also claiming a bracket win.
