NAPERVILLE --- Carthage’s AJ Landorf and Taydin Murphy are the the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Swimming & Diving Student-Athletes of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Landorf delivered multiple lifetime-best performances and posted the league’s top times in the backstroke and individual medley at the Calvin Quad Invitational, while Murphy swept the diving competition with a pair of near-career-best scores on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.
Swimming: AJ Landorf, Carthage
At the Calvin Quad Invitational, Landorf notched lifetime bests in the 100 backstroke (52.76) and 200 backstroke (1:59.12) – both ranking as the fastest times in the CCIW this season. He also posted a lifetime best 100 butterfly (52.16) and contributed strong relay splits — 50.91 on the butterfly leg of the 400 medley relay and 23.03 on the 200 medley relay.
The Naperville, Ill. native added a season-best 200 individual medley (1:56.30), the top time in the CCIW by league seconds, and led off the 800 freestyle relay in 1:48.26.
Diving: Taydin Murphy, Carthage
Murphy swept the diving events in Grand Rapids, winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. He posted scores of 410.20 on 1-meter and 381.30 on 3-meter through 11 dives — both marks approaching his career bests from last year’s CCIW Championships.
