NCC's Spacht Named CCIW Men’s Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week

NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) tabbed North Central’s Ethan Spacht Student-Athlete of the Week in men’s wrestling on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The junior, ranked 12th nationally at 133 pounds, won the gold division at the Pointer Open last Saturday in Stevens Point, Wis., going 5-0 against the competition. 
 
The opening round saw Spacht make quick work of Manchester’s Kolton Ploughe, earning a pin in just 1:31 to advance to the second round. There, he picked up an 18-1 technical fall over Simon Moreno of Wisconsin-Parkside to reach the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinal round, Spacht recorded his second pin of the tournament, defeating Cael Morrow of Minnesota State Mankato in 2:46. In the semifinal, Spacht prevailed with a 4-0 decision over Division II’s 13th-ranked Chase Beckett of Minnesota State Mankato
 
The Bradley, Ill. native capped his run in the championship match, earning a 5-0 decision over another ranked opponent, 14th-ranked Matthew Chi of Wisconsin-Parkside to secure the tournament title.
