NAPERVILLE --- Augustana claimed both College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week awards Tuesday after a commanding performance in the regular-season finale. Freshman forward Matt Donahey fueled the attack with two goals and two assists in a 4–0 victory over Elmhurst, while goalkeeper William Gabrielsson anchored the back line, turning away all three shots on goal to secure his third shutout of the year.
Offensive: Matt Donahey, Augustana
The freshman from Elmhurst, Ill.scored two goals and assisted on two others to lift the Vikings to a 4-0 shutout of Elmhurst in last Wednesday’s finale. Donaghey played the full 90 minutes in the win.
Defensive: William Gabrielsson, Augustana
Gabrielsson faced 16 shots, saving all three that reached frame, to help the Vikings beat Elmhurst 4-0 last Wednesday in Rock Island. The result marked his third shutout win of the season.
