NAPERVILLE — Wheaton junior Taggert Kazmierczak was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week on Wednesday after posting a pair of league wins last Saturday.
Wrestling at 165 pounds, Kazmierczak delivered one of the defining moments of the weekend in Wheaton’s opening dual against Concordia Wisconsin. With the Thunder trailing 21-0 early, the Oswego, Ill. native halted the momentum with an 11-second fall, igniting a comeback that resulted in a 33-21 Wheaton victory.
He followed that effort with a strong showing against Carthage, earning a 16-2 major decision to account for one of Wheaton’s highlights in the dual.
